local secret #1 – kingly court – London

Regent’s Street may be one of London’s most popular shopping destinations for tourists, yet most people don’t know about the little square tucked behind. Kingly Court sits between Regent’s Street and Carnaby Street and is one of my favourite quiet places right in the centre of London. There are small cafés, shops and benches where you can take your own food and drinks and just sit and take a break from the crowds.

Most people don’t know about Kingly Court because the entrance is so hidden…

That’s not all- the square has an added bonus: the Carnaby Book Exchange. Started by students as a non-profit project, you can take a book you no longer want/love and swap it for a new one, completely free! The only thing they ask is that you write a little note to put on the front of the book you drop off- something about whether or not you liked it, when you read it, or who gave it to you. There’s no limit on the number of books you can swap, so go and renew your collection for free.
